Someone will always have a better idea but I don't think we should criticize posting any working idea. Many nuts have flat spots, not grooves and your tool look good for them. I'd rather it be a hard plastic to not scratch but I what I've made works with all lengths and types of toggles and so far doesn't scratch or slip.
In the end it's what ever works of course. It would seem that you have to use it at an angle? Also what's the cost if one doesn't need new blinds or a ceiling fan if I'm understanding your source? Your source gave me a chuckle, " sure I'll fix you switch for free, just buy me a ceiling fan or new blinds and we're good". How does your tool deal with long toggle flat handles. No improvised tool that can skip or damage the toggle. In any case, not scratching their new switch nuts or expensive cases is my goal. Our hobby isn't all electronic oriented persons, no new news I'm sure. Most brand name systems require the tx be sent in for repair, others are afraid to open their tx for diy. I do a lot of RC tx switch replacement for club members that drop their tx. I was pretty psyched to see that this wrench (that came with my blinds or ceiling fan or some random assembly required item) fit perfectly. You guys are hilarious! Why is there so much attention given to putting on and taking off the switch nuts? Even the tool used to do it.lol.I'm sorry, I just find it hysterical. Therein lies the success of the Taranis - with opentx.
Open systems is the way to go as shown by the popularity of the Android OS - 83% market share - over The Microsofts and Apples.
If they were smart and probably what will have to happen is like the mobile phone market, how manufacturers make mobile phones that are compatible with either Android or Windows and Google or Microsoft focus on making good firmware! It's not surprising that they're all falling behind. Jeti and other manufacturers are struggling with creating radio firmware which is becoming exponentially more complex in a market that is demanding new tech quicker and cheaper. My take on it is that FRSky have done well with the Taranis by recognising that they just aren't equipped to create ground breaking firmware for their flagship radio so instead they've focussed on created a radio without firmware which is compatible with OpenTx. I was very interested to read the little tantrum thrown by Esprit while championing Jeti radios.
